Kaitlin Booth is a passionate cellist with an innate love for teaching. She works with students of all ages and finds it especially rewarding to witness her students learn and progress on the cello. Her teaching style represents a gentle, organized, and practical approach to music that brings great results based on her professional knowledge and experiences.
Kaitlin's own performance history started at the age of 11. While studying with renowned cellist and multi-style musician, Nicole Pinnell, her love of the instrument and profound dedication grew, leading her to participate in ensembles such as the Utah All-State Orchestra, and perform in masterclasses with artists such as Steven Doane, Ka-Wai Yu, Tom Landschoot, and Hasse Borup.
Kaitlin has a strong background in classical music and has performed in venues such as Abravanel Hall, Eccles Concert Hall, Libby Gardner Concert Hall, Dumke Recital Hall, Noorda Center Concert Hall, Capitol Reef National Park, and the De Jong Concert Hall, as well as in venues across the United States, Dominican Republic, and Brazil.
As a soloist, Kaitlin performed the Saint-Saëns Cello Concerto no. 1 in A minor with the Utah Valley University Symphony Orchestra in 2021, after winning the University’s student concerto competition. In January 2023, she had the honor of performing the West Coast premiere of Charles Mingus' Half-Mast Inhibition with the University of Utah Wind Symphony. Finally, she made her international debut as a cello soloist in Vidin, Bulgaria in July 2024, where she had the opportunity to perform the Schumann Cello Concerto with the Sinfonietta Vidin under the baton of conductor Cheung Chau.
In addition to solo performances, Kaitlin has been featured as a multi-style cellist on a number of recordings for artists and composers in the Utah County and Salt Lake County areas, including David Archuleta, Mykel, Detzany, Joseph Osterstock, and Brandon J. Kim.
Kaitlin received her Bachelor of Arts degree in Cello Performance from Utah Valley University, where she studied under the tutelage of Cheung Chau and Walter Haman (2017-2021). She is currently pursuing a Master's degree in String Performance and Pedagogy from the University of Utah, where she studies with Pegsoon Whang and John Eckstein.
Aside from her teaching and graduate school work, Kaitlin enjoys performing across Utah Valley with her string quartet Artiva Strings (artivastrings.com), hiking in the Rocky Mountains, making homemade sourdough bread, traveling, and spending time with her husband, Preston. She is also the proud owner and founder of Thrive Music Studio!
