Frequently asked questions

Let's talk about some specifics!
What is your typical process for working with a new student?
In the first lesson, we always like to discuss the student's goals and see where they'd like to go with their instrument. One person might want to go the classical route and train to study music in college (woohoo!), while another person may have different goals as an adult learner or hobbyist. After we determine what your goals are, we can tailor future lessons to meet those goals.
Is there anything parents & students should know before joining your studio?
Our studio is competitive and goal-oriented! Students 18 years and younger can expect to participate in annual competitions with the Utah Federation of Music Clubs, playing solos and competing for top scores in their divisions. We also hold regular masterclasses and recitals for students of all ages, where you might be asked to perform for a group of peers. Many of our students are members of local youth or community orchestras, in addition to their private lessons, and practice for several hours each day.
Can I do a trial lesson?
Absolutely! To schedule a 30-minute trial lesson with one of our teachers, send us a message at kaitlin@thrivemusic.co.
