Caitlyn Curry began studying the viola at the age of six (under the impression that it was a cello) and grew to love the viola for its rich tone and unique musical qualities! By playing in numerous orchestras and community productions as a youth, Caitlyn developed a love for music that would inspire her to study viola performance at a higher level.
Today, Caitlyn holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Music Performance from Utah State University, where she studied with Bradley Ottesen. Her time at USU presented her with opportunities to play in the USU Symphony Orchestra, perform in masterclasses for acclaimed violists, and travel to summer music festivals. Currently, she is pursuing a Master's Degree in Performance and Pedagogy under the guidance of Julie Edwards at the University of Utah.
As a chamber musician, Caitlyn has studied extensively under the Fry Street Quartet and quickly grew to love this genre of music. She has performed in chamber recitals, premiered a piece by Junyoon Wie that was commissioned for the Caine Quartet, and was a winner of the 2021 ASTA chamber music competition as a member of the Synchrony Quartet. As a coach for chamber music programs in Logan Utah, she enjoyed sharing her love for chamber music by coaching young quartets and developing projects to bring chamber musicians together within the community.
Caitlyn teaches from her studio location in Murray, Utah.
